The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe is pleased to announce that the My Reading Buddy program will be starting February 5th, 2015. The Lake Tahoe Humane Society and The Boys and Girls Club are partnering to bring reading to our youth. It is an 8 week program that will help kids with all reading levels gain confidence by reading to a “Buddy”. ( A canine friend) The kids will be able to actively engage throughout the program while gaining confidence and improving their reading skills. The program will target 3-4 members for 15 minutes or more of reading per session. Members who join must be able to make a full commitment to the program. Members will also learn dog safety and how to properly interact with an unfamiliar dog. At the end of the program members will participate in a graduation ceremony, where they will receive a certificate of completion and a book. All the books that will be read throughout the program will be animal related and again will target all reading levels. We are very excited to get this program up and running.
