Kids can be Kind

As mentioned in previous blogs, here at the Club 2019 has been designated as the ‘year of manners’.  In part to ensure that our members are, as we already know, the best kids in Tahoe but also because we have seen a decrease in empathy, compassion, kindness and general civility in recent years.  There are many reasons to blame for this, but here at the Club we are more interested in how we can turn it around, and bring kindness back into our community.

Building Momentum

Only two weeks into the summer and the school year seems like a distant memory.  Although there is still evidence of Sierra House around the building, it is wonderful to have full use of our building again and for staff to be able to park onsite.  Despite the school having packed up and left, there has been much chatter in the community regarding return of Sierra House in the fall.  At the time of writing, the Club understands that the renovation work at the school is progressing well and that the staff and students will be able to return to their own building at the start of the next academic year.

Thank You to all the Tahoe Brewfest Sponsors 2019

Summer arrived just in time for our 3rd Annual Tahoe Brewfest on Saturday 1st June, and attracted over 4000 participants to the Heavenly Cal Lodge Parking Lot.  In addition to samples from 38 breweries, attendees enjoyed great food from local food trucks, merchandise stalls, a photo booth, face painting, a silent disco, and live music by Ike and Martin and Dirty Cello.  The majority of the attendees were tourists, speaking to the Brewfest’s ability to attract tourism dollars for the community on what has traditionally been a quiet weekend and taking some of the pressure off our locals - who already donate to so many of our charities.  But local support is still key to the event’s success.

Major Companies Choosing to Partner with BGCLT

Living in a resort town definitely has an upside when it comes to corporate support.  As not only do our local business and organizations help the Club, but often organizations holding conferences and events here in town, also reach out to offer their help.  This Spring we have three new organizations, two from out of town, who have chosen to partner with BGCLT for their event.
