The Club has been accepting enrollments into the summer program since March 1st and numbers have already reached the half way point, with some groups full or nearly full. “Our ‘baby blue’ group, the TK or pre-schoolers who are going into K in the fall, is already full and spaces for our 2nd and 3rd grade group are also filling fast” explained Kelly Giardina, Director of Operations.
November 8th may be the most important day for the Club in recent history. On that day, voters in California and South Lake Tahoe will decide our future. Proposition 51 on the State ballot seeks to raise funding for educational buildings and maintenance. The not for profit landscape is not unlike the Sierra Nevada; lots of uphill climbing; some great viewpoints but also the constant threat of falling off a cliff. Since the economic crash of 2007 funding for charities has decreased dramatically and competition for what meager grants remain has increased.
