2021 and the impact of COVID-19
Like all organizations and businesses, the coronavirus pandemic had a profound impact on the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe.
However, we rose to every challenge and have worked hard to have a positive impact on our community, leaving us so thankful to have been voted by that same amazing community to receive the Community Enrichment Award in the Tahoe Chamber’s Blue Ribbon Awards for 2020!
The COVID-19 pandemic shone a spotlight on the vital role that childcare and educational programs like ours have on the lives of families and our youth. Pre-pandemic, we served over 300 children a day across our two sites and gave out 97,000 FREE meals a year. During the pandemic, the numbers we could serve on a daily basis were drastically reduced due to social distancing, but we used that as an opportunity to provide in-depth, high-quality programs to the families that needed us most. Not only did we enable parents to keep working while the schools were closed, but we provided the vital connections, care, and active play that children need for their personal growth and emotional wellbeing.
Since March 2020, we have lost over $225,000 in revenue from enrollment and fundraisers; but YOU can help us to keep serving our families by contributing to this fundraiser, either by playing in person or participating in our silent auction.
Thank you for helping us to serve our community!
